What is the deal with the trailers down there. Is it Over hang of the boat? That canoe is neat, is there a significant weight increase? If so does the canoes still sit balanced in the water like a non-hinged Mirage?
Yes the overhang is the issue, the trailers are legal if there is nothing on them it's when the canoes are loaded they then exceed the overall length and overhang, but the rules are different in each state so it's very messy. A couple of cops in Queensland know about the outrigger trailers now and ambush the convoy of trailers heading up the coast each year to the Hamilton Cup and hand out tickets.
It doesn't increase the weight at all, the hull still weighs 155kg or 340lb and is still perfectly balanced.
